Lissa Hunter: Histories Real & Imagined is where it all began – 20 years ago. At the time, Abby had been training as an editorial assistant for Tim McCreight at his prestigious publishing house, Brynmorgen Press, and was inspired to bring Lissa’s artwork to a broader audience. The way to do that was to write, design, and publish an extensive monograph of the life and work of this extraordinary Maine artist.
This ambitious volume is the most comprehensive collection of Lissa Hunter’s artwork to date, with a careful arrangement of over 200 color images, including never-before-published writings and drawings by the artist. Thoughtfully written and designed, this book captures Hunter’s process in a most sensitive, yet straightforward manner. From each page, Hunter’s work hums with powerful imagery that is at once life-affirming and thought-provoking.
