German professor and naturalist, Ernst Haeckel is known for his iconic publication, Kunstformen der Natur, where illustrations of organisms were recorded in great and fanciful detail. This one features siphonophores, the group of marine animals that include corals, jellyfish and hydroids. Here’s a fun fact: some siphonophores can grow as long as 40 meters making them the longest animals on the planet!
